I thought this reading from Chapter 3 was extremely uninteresting. It was extremely difficult to read because all I wanted to do was think about anything else and the words were honestly at a higher reading level then I'm used to. Although, I also don't read much. The first couple pages were about the beginning of freshman year and how all freshman were required to take the same course to start a community or engage in the same readings. I don't know about anyone else, but here at bloom, I didn't take a course like that and there was never any hold on my record because of it. I also didn't have any summer reading like she talked about that her university freshman students had to do. I do agree with what the author said in the very first pages. She implied that universities make it sound so simple and easy for you to get involve and they make it sound fun and not stressful during welcome week and other events similar before going back to school. But it really isn't all that easy once classes start, depending on the classes you have. I know that my classes are extremely difficult which makes it nearly impossible for me to go to a club meeting three times a week. The insights this reading is offering is pretty much about college students and sense of community. I think this reading is similar to what were learning because we have to identify a community and try to see similar trends.
